Author and Illustrator Visits
At The Book Stop, we love helping schools connect with authors and illustrators to inspire young readers. Author visits are a powerful way to spark creativity, build enthusiasm for reading, and give pupils a behind-the-scenes look at how books are made.
We can arrange author visits at any time of year, tailored to your pupils’ age group, curriculum themes and school needs.

What to Expect
Author visits can include:
-
Interactive talks and readings
-
Q&A sessions with pupils
-
Writing or illustration workshops
-
Insight into the publishing process
-
Inspiration for reading and writing
Visits can be adapted for whole-school assemblies, year groups, or individual classes.
Fees & Book Sales
Some authors and illustrators charge a visit fee, which varies depending on the length and type of session.
At certain times of year – particularly during the promotion of new book releases – these fees may be waived, making it an excellent opportunity for schools to host an author visit at reduced cost.
We ask that schools work with us to support book sales as part of the visit. This helps make events viable for authors and for us as an independent bookshop. A minimum book order will apply, and we’re always happy to discuss options to suit your budget and pupils.
We can also arrange:
-
Book ordering for pupils
-
Signed copies
-
Delivery to school

TESTIMONIALS
The children had such a great time on Friday with Tom Palmer and were so excited to come back to school to show off their signed copies of books. They loved the penalty shoot out and listening to Tom make reading fun. They are inspired now to read more of his books!
J MUTCH / THE HALIFAX ACADEMY
One of the highlights of our partnership with The Book Stop has been the author visits they’ve facilitated. These visits have not only sparked excitement and engagement around reading but have also given our students the rare opportunity to interact with authors and gain insight into the creative process. The events have been both inspiring and educational, helping to build a deeper appreciation for literature among our students.
